How it Works
All items must be clean and accessories must be in
complete operating order. Clothing must be in season and in style.
-
Clothing must be freshly laundered, new or gently
worn, with no holes, stains, missing buttons, odor, or excessive wear.
Apparel must be brought in on hangers.
-
The consignment period is for 60 days. The first 30
days the item is priced at full consignment value. Days 30 - 60 the
item is marked down 10%.
-
The consignor chooses to either have their unsold
items pulled and returned to them or donated at the end of the
consignment period. If the consignor chooses to have their items
returned, they will be notified when the items are pulled. Once
notified the consignor will have (10) days to pick up the items. If
items are not picked up, they will be donated. There will be a $3.50
per season pull fee charged to the consignors account if they choose
to have their items returned. If the consignor chooses to have their
unsold items donated, they will remain on the rack as long as space
permits. The item will continue to be marked down. There is no pull
fee charged to the consignors who choose to have their unsold items
donated.
-
The items are priced by us. When the price tag prints
there is a .25 cent fee added to the price to cover processing. When
the item sells the entire processing fee goes to Sacks 2 for Kids. 40%
of the remaining amount is credited to the consignor's account.
Example: We price the items at $10.00 the tag will print out at
$10.25. If the item sells at full price, the consignor will receive
$4.00, Sacks 2 for Kids will receive $5.00 plus the .25 cent fee.
-
At anytime the consignor can choose to have the entire
current balance on their account transferred to a Sacks 2 for Kids
Shopping Card. If they choose this an extra 10% will be added to the
card. Please see Sacks 2 for Kids Shopping Card for details.
-
Funds are available for payout, transfer, or store
purchases (3) days following the sale of the item. Consignors can
receive up to one check per month and are printed only at the
consignors request. No check will be printed for less than $15.00.
Checks are available for pickup after 12:00pm on Thursday's for all
requests made by closing the prior Saturday. The consignor may have
their check mailed to them for a .50 cent fee. There will be no cash
payouts. Account balance can be used toward purchases in the store at
anytime.
Consignment FAQ's
Q: What brands do you accept?
A: At Sacks 2 we try to have items in every price range,
however we also want to maintain high quality. Usually we will not accept
lower quality department store brands unless they are in excellent
condition and rack space allows. If you are unsure about a brand please
feel free to call us.
Q: The store I consigned with in the past wanted my
clothes brought in folded in boxes, why does Sacks 2 want them on hangers?
A: Some stores want them in boxes to conserve space or to transport them
to another location to process. At Sacks 2 for Kids we process on site and
store the clothing on racks. We find by hanging the apparel it reduces
wrinkles.
Q: What types of toys do you accept?
A: Since we are located just a few yards away from a major toy
store and have limited space for them, we have limited the toys we accept
to those which are unique or educational in nature.
Q: Do I have to make an appointment to bring items in?
A: No, as long as they are brought in during normal take in hours
(Monday-Saturday 10am-4pm). If however you need to bring them in at a time
other than normal take in or you have a large number of items, please call
so we can set a time that will accommodate you best.
Q: Do you buy items?
A: No, we are consignment only at this time.
Q: Who prices the the items?
A: We do.
Q: How do you base your prices?
A: As a general rule our prices are based on 1/3 of retail for gently worn
items and 1/2 of retail for new items (tags still attached). However, some
items will sell for higher and some for lower and we price them based on
what experience tells us the market will bear.
Tip's for Consigning
Here are a few things to keep in mind that may help your
items sell faster and for more money.
-
Bring your items in as early as possible. Do not wait
until the temperature changes to get your items in. The strongest
demand for apparel is before the season starts.
-
Seasonal items such as holiday apparel and Halloween
costumes should be brought in 4-6 weeks prior to the holiday.
-
Check your items thoroughly under bright light. You
may find stains or damage on the garment that could easily be cleaned
or repaired. Due to our quality standards our staff will not accept
stained or damaged items.
-
Launder and press the items just prior to bringing
them in especially if they have been near cigarette smoke or
mothballs. Clothes that have been packed away will retain odors, have
hanger marks, and wrinkles.
-
Do not remove the tags on new items that you are
bringing in. This will significantly reduce the value of the item.
-
If you have the user manuals of an item, be sure to
bring them with the item.
-
When you buy new items, keep resale in mind. Use
quality detergent and treat stains immediately. When buying toys and
equipment keep the instructions and the box so you can repackage the
item. Items sell better in their original packing.
